Are You Really Listening?
“I’ve Learned That People Will Forget What You Said, People Will Forget What You Did, but People Will Never Forget How You Made Them Feel!” Maya Angelou
I have heard my friend and mentor John Fogg say more than once “You will listen more people into this business than you will ever talk into it”. It is perhaps one of the greatest secrets and untold truths of Network Marketing. Perhaps life .
Think about the times you have truly felt heard and understood. How do you feel about the other person? You connect with them because they make you feel special. It is all about how we make others feel. It is the quickest and easiest way to create solid relationships and don’t ever forget that this is a relationship business.
Building a successful Networking business is based upon making others feel good about themselves and making them feel good about you. One of the easiest and most productive ways to do this is to listen. Listen to what their problems are and try to help with genuine authentic solutions. Right now in this economy a big problem is a lack of cash flow. You have a solution! You don’t need to sell this, you need to solve this.
Often, when I need my husband to do or decide something, I go about making it his idea. I lead the conversations and direct them. I don’t sell him. I solve it for him. Actually, I let him solve it. Even better!
Give it some thought. Pay attention to your listening. Try to genuinely listen and listen more than you talk in conversation today.
Let me know what happens and how it feels. Better yet, let me know how they feelJ !

I love the quote at the beginning of your article! Its so true.
Connecting with people on an emotional level is so powerful!
We were created with 2 ears and 1 mouth to listen twice as much as we talk.
Great content…thanks for sharing!

This is a really key thing to remember when networking with people in social media. You MUST listen. As long as you keep talking, casual relationships are kept at a distance at best. When you stop to listen, though… that’s when the relationship takes on a new meaningful role in your business pursuits.
Great advice Christy, and really at the heart of the spam issue. As long as you are listening instead of pronouncing… you will always be seen as helping and adding value. And that’s where you MUST begin to build your online relationships.
